Saying less means listening more, and it takes practice. This is good advice.

I have a friend who pilots fire fighting jets; he says only answer or speak to one level deep on a topic or question.

Kind of like the “3 beats” or “say less” idea here, he lets people ask for more detail if they want. If not the conversations can keep flowing.
